YAMAGIWA made its debut at 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen from 10 to 12 June 2026, as part of the FRAMING exhibition at Odd Fellow Palace on Bredgade. According to the house, the exhibition drew around 22,000 visitors.
The new piece was O-LIGHT, a table and floor lamp in Akita cedar. It draws on magewappa, the bentwood craft of Odate in Akita Prefecture, officially recognised as a traditional craft of Japan and passed down over generations. The lamp stands 60 centimetres tall, in a natural or black finish, and is meant to hold its place in a room whether lit or not. The cedar darkens with use, and YAMAGIWA treats that change as part of the design.
Alongside it came TALIESIN White, a new colour for the series designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The white finish keeps Wright's architectural layering of light and shadow while giving the lamp a lighter, more open presence.
Founded in 1923, YAMAGIWA has produced lighting by Frank Lloyd Wright, Shiro Kuramata, Toyo Ito and Tokujin Yoshioka, with a strong emphasis on Japanese craftsmanship. Its Copenhagen presentation focused on light as something that shapes how a space is felt, through shadow as much as brightness.
